Diet is the top priority in your Clear Skin program. Skin care, or how you physically care for your skin, is also crucial. In The Clear Skin Diet we discuss types of products to use, the skin care routine and habits you need to develop, and products you want to avoid.
On this page, our Ingredients Checker can help you determine if your skin or hair care products contain comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients. We’ve also provided a list of products we personally recommend, which are appropriate for those using the Clear Skin Diet.
In the box below, simply paste the list of ingredients from a product – making certain to separate each ingredient with a comma. (If you do not separate by comma, the program may not work correctly.) You can usually find the ingredients list for a given product on their website.
Copy and paste the ingredients below, putting commas between each ingredient, and click the CHECK INGREDIENTS button below. If an ingredient is commedogenic, the checker will let you know.
NOTE: The Clear Skin Diet program recommends that there be NO OIL in any of your products. The Ingredients Checker may not identify oils in ingredients lists; this is because if you read our book, you will see we first and foremost say NO OILS in your diet or products. So there is no need to use the Ingredient Checker if your product ingredients lists any oils – the product already fails (and the Ingredients Checker may not even detect some oils since the reader knows it’s a no-oil program).
Be careful with anything you put on your face or your hair – even if the product label says “won’t clog pores!” or “non-comedogenic.” Check the ingredients yourself (see our book for the full list of ingredients to avoid).
You can also find out whether your skin or hair care products – or detergents or other products – are comedogenic (pore-clogging) – by using the Ingredients Checker tool above.Shop The Clear Skin Diet Book
Note: Not all of these products below are completely free of comedogenic ingredients. It may sometimes be difficult to find skin care that is 100% ideal, and so over time we have experimented with different products, and found a few which may contain small amounts of ingredients we do not recommend, but we have had no problems with the products ourselves. To alert you to those products, we include an asterisk * next to that product, so you will know it does contain some comedogenic ingredients. You may wish to avoid them, or you may wish to try them and see whether they cause a reaction. When starting out, it’s probably best to avoid the * products, but once you’re clear, you can experiment if you’d like, and see whether you get a reaction.
Also, be sure to check ingredients in these products yourself – because ingredients can change over time. Companies may reformulate and so something that was on our “okay” list when we added it here, may no longer be the same ingredients six months later. We try to keep up on this – you can share what you’ve found on the Clear Skin Diet Facebook group.
